Notes on the Artwork: 'The painting depicts a young woman drowning. The title of the painting is deliberately dismissive and my aim is to provoke the viewer into wondering why. I produced the painting after becoming exasperated and angered by the dismissive language used in the media about people drowning as they crossed the Channel in small boats.'
