No Room in the Bowl
No Room in the Bowl
Watercolour on paper
56cm x 76cm (unframed)
This year (2024) the RA Co-ordinator wanted to explore space. Reflecting on my years working as an Architect with residential Clients I wanted to capture the ubiquitous still-life of fruit on a tablecloth. The tablecloth is my take on a traditional Welsh tapestry pattern based on the ‘portcullis’ style, providing a grid with which to locate the next sequential motif or the single banana and lemon. The fruit representative of a society buying more than needed, with no more room in the fruit bowl for the last banana and lemon.
