Matoaka is the real name of Pocahontas, and this is part one of a series I wanted to use to explore the her character alongside Diana (Roman version of Artemis). For a few years now, I can’t think of one without the other. Maybe that Diana is meant to be the patron saint of figures like Pocahontas. The style of the piece is similar to another work of mine where characters are encased in glass or aura of their spirit animals.
