Notes on the Artwork: 'I'm always drawn to laundrettes, how they can feel empty but at the same time hold communities together. The title emphasises this, it's a place where people gather and wait, maybe meeting familiar locals or making new friends whilst doing daily mundane chores.
With my work I am drawn to creating a certain feeling and capturing a sense of place. The intricate details and lifelike precision in these paintings capture not just bricks and mortar but the very soul of these spaces. In them, we discover the comforting familiarity of a well-loved place, even in the midst of urban anonymity. These shopfronts are a testament to the idea that “home” is not just where we live; it’s where we find belonging, community, and the warmth of shared moments, often hidden behind these charming facades.'
