Notes on the Artwork: Held, created through instinctive, impulsive layers of acrylic paint. responding to the unexpected elements in my free initial approach developing an emotional connection with the piece. The subject is both veiled and protected by the blooming peonies. a representation of we are held and influenced by the natural world, how we thrive in the right environment for us. Choosing small areas to refine with oil paint, focus is drawn to the eye creating a lingering, suspenseful feeling, drawing the viewer in with her gaze.
