Notes on the Artwork: "For the past 10 years, I’ve been painting almost exclusively on silk, stretched over canvas or board. My practice has more recently engaged with ideas around female identity and mental health. Fabrics, silks and organza have been a large part of my practice, depictions of the veil and the interplay between outside and inside. In making these works, using still-life and Botanical subjects, I employ slow painting techniques on silk, which allows me time to play. I sometimes paint over older works, using these as the starting point for new routes, and returning to recurring motifs. Recently, these elements have merged to bring a sense of fragility and the unconscious."
