The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition is a thrilling open-submission event where artists from around the world can showcase their work in a prestigious venue for thousands to see. This year's theme, Dialogues, is curated by Farshid Moussavi OBE RA.

But don't worry if your work isn’t selected—Art Friend’s REJECTS exhibition is here to celebrate those overlooked pieces! It’s a chance for artwork that didn’t make it into the Summer Exhibition to shine in its own spotlight.

Timeline:

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025:

  • Digital Submission Opens: 7th January
  • Digital Submission Closes: 11th February (23:59 GMT)
  • Judging Results Announced: 19th March
  • Delivery of Shortlisted Works: May (varies by category)
  • Final Results Announced: 30th May
  • Exhibition Dates: 17th June – 17th August

Art Friend REJECTS Exhibition:

  • Submission Opens: 19th March
  • Submission Closes: 4th June
  • Exhibition Dates: 3rd July – 13th July

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025:

  • Theme: Dialogues, coordinated by Farshid Moussavi OBE RA.
  • Submission Fee: £40 per work.
  • Submission Limit: Up to two works per artist.
  • Submission Process: Submit digital images of your artwork via the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition page.
  • Entry Cap: Capped at 18,000 entries; early submission is recommended.
  • Selection Process: Digital judging, followed by delivery of shortlisted works.

Art Friend REJECTS Exhibition:

  • Theme: Dialogues, coordinated by Farshid Moussavi OBE RA.
  • Submission Fee: £5 per work.
  • Submission Limit: Up to two works per artist.
  • Submission Process: Submit via online forms - register interest HERE
  • Exhibition Focus: Celebrating artworks not selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
  • Exhibition Details: Showcasing a diverse range of mediums and styles.
