Still want to know more about REJECTS 2026? Then you’ve come to the right place!
Take a look at some of our FAQs:
How did REJECTS come about?
Seeing so many amazing artists share that they had been rejected from the RA Summer shows each year, Shona decided it would be a great idea to provide an opportunity to showcase these works and change the way we respond to rejection. REJECTS has grown over the years and we have enjoyed so many interesting discussions and panels around the subject.
Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Anyone who has applied to and been rejected from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Even if you have previously been rejected from another year and the artwork is still available, you are welcome to apply however, we ask that it still fits in with this year’s theme: interconnectedness. We welcome all artists aged 18+ to apply; from emerging to well renowned artists.
How can I apply?
Visit our Curator Space page here. All information is on here. If you are new to Curator Space, you will need to create a free account with before applying. When applying for REJECTS, tell us as much information as you can including measurements and media used. If there is a story behind the artwork, we always enjoy reading about it, too! Ensure that out of the photos uploaded, one shows the artwork framed (if applicable) as all artworks should be ready to hang and framing is also important for us to consider when curating your artworks. The deadline for submissions is 2nd June 2026.
How many works can I submit?
Just the the RA, you can submit a maximum of 2 artworks. Each artwork should be submitted on a separate form. Each submission costs £6.60.
Why can’t everyone who applies to REJECTS be included in the exhibition?
We aim to include as many artworks as we possibly can whilst also considering the size of the exhibition space and how we can curate the works effectively. Due to the growing popularity of the exhibition, we have more applicants than we have space for but we strive to support artists as best we can. This year, we aim to include everyone’s work - even if not included in the final hang- in print material.
What happens if my artwork is accepted?
We will be in touch via email with further information (which will include specific dates regarding private view, venue information and dates for delivery and collection of artworks).
Can I arrange alternative dates for delivery or collection?
Unfortunately, we cannot organise delivery and collection on alternative dates. As the exhibition is in a temporary space, there would be nowhere to store the artworks and so we would not be able to hold onto artworks either side of the event.
What happens if an artwork sells?
Firstly, congratulations! There will be a 50%+ VAT commission to Art Friend Gallery with the remaining money going directly to the artist.
When and where will the exhibition be held?
From 18th-28th June, you can find REJECTS 2026 at the Bakery Gallery, Portobello Road, London.
Is there a private view?
Yes! Please join us on Thursday 18th or Friday 19th June for music, drinks and a first glimpse of this year's REJECTS. Get your free tickets here.
